Built circa 1850 1875--residence of Cephas Clapp 1900--415 the residence of Charles H. Cassitt, supt. of the Water Works. Cassitt was partner in the Shiawassee Iron Works prior to its burning in 1885 & served in the 6th Michigan cavalry in the Civil War. He was the Mayor of Owosso, 1884 State Representative, City Treasurer, postmaster (1888), and President and vice-president of the Owosso Savings Bank. He died in 1911 and was buried at Oakhill Cemetery. |
