July 1981 historical calendar: "Ward Detwiler and Rollo Detwiler, 420 East Exchange Street--This house, typical of the 1880's, is located at 420 East Exchange Street. It was the home of George and Maria Detwiler whose sons graduated from Owosso High School, Ward in 1898 and Rollo in 1901. Ward and Rollo became partners in the firm of Bryand and Detwiler, Detroit. They were builders whose firm worked on the Detroit Museum of Art and the J. L. Hudson store in downtown Detroit. Other than the porch, the house remains close to its original condition." |
