Architectural & Historical Significance |
September 1981 historical calendar: "Lawrence Ebenezer Gould, 422 West Oliver Street--The two houses at 514 and 518 Pine Street used to be one house which stood at 422 West Oliver Street Part of the building was the living quarters of Lucius and Josephine (White) Gould. The other part contained Josephine's Oakside School, a select private school. Lucius was a newspaper editor and he has some very interesting articles in the Michigan Pioneer Collection. Lucius and Josephine's son, Lawrence, grew up in this house, graduated from Owosso High School in 1897, and became a pioneer in railroad electrification. He was in charge of lighting at the Exposition in SanDiego in 1915-16. The 1873 map of Owosso, Michigan, was used as reference for the above drawing." |
