Architectural & Historical Significance April 1988 historical calendar: "Waterman-Bell Residence, 601 Ada Street and 704 Lee Street--This large symmetrical house was built by Ezra Waterman who came from Canada to Owosso at the turn of the century. Waterman later owned the elaborate house built by John N. Ingersoll next to McCurdy Park in Corunna. Waterman sold this house to Charles D. Bell who had come to Owosso with the sugar company which started operating in Owosso in 1903. The Bells lived for a while at 109 Goodhue Street, moving to the corner of Lee and Ada Streets before World War I. After the Bells died, the house was made into handsome spacious apartments, one with the Ada Street and one with the Lee Street address. The building was owned by the J. A. Byerly family for a long time with various tenants over the years. The present owners of the building are Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jacobson who no longer live in Owosso."
